Check out the full light show schedule at the Stone Cathedral of Canela, one of the main postcards of the Serra Gaúcha, which is about to light up once again. Starting March 8th, the “Luminata” project promises to enchant tourists and locals with new sound and light spectacles. Take advantage, as these Luminata-themed shows happen only in March and April of this year.

Note: the light and sound spectacle of this season ended today, April 7th, 2024. The performances moved everyone who stood in front of the Cathedral to admire the light show. The Parish of Our Lady of Lourdes in Canela remains with its nighttime illumination. We will soon announce the schedules for new light shows here on our website as soon as the Cathedral provides them.
The debut show, titled “Via Domini – The Paths of the Lord”, will take place during the Easter season. The Cathedral’s facade will come to life with mapped projections, creating a perfect harmony between sound and light. Inspired by the Stations of the Cross, one of the most significant moments in the history of Jesus Christ, the spectacle will transport us back to the time when Christ carried the cross, faced death, and rose again.
For 12 minutes, we will be enveloped by an original soundtrack that will lead us through the events of the Stations of the Cross. Mapped projection technology will create realistic effects, making us feel like part of this historic journey. Get ready to be moved and to travel back in time.
