Stroll Down Rua Coberta: The Heart of Gramado
Rua Coberta is one of the city’s biggest points of interest. Originally called Rua Madre Verônica, it’s located in the center of Gramado, in front of the Palácio dos Festivais (home to the famous Gramado Film Festival) and close to São Pedro Church. The street got its name from the roof that covers it, and its decoration with hanging plants creates a cozy atmosphere. Here, you’ll find various restaurants and shops. The frequent events held on the street make it a must-visit during your stay. You’ll certainly be charmed by the restaurants and artists you’ll encounter on Rua Coberta.
Lago Negro: A Romantic Retreat
Lago Negro is an artificial lake surrounded by trees and hydrangea bushes. Rent a paddle boat and enjoy a peaceful ride on the calm waters. During the peak of the hydrangea bloom (late November/December), the lake becomes even more stunning, with thousands of flowers in shades of blue and purple. Located about 2 km from the center of Gramado, it’s a perfect spot for a picnic or a relaxing walk. If you’re in good shape and staying at a hotel within a 3 km radius of Lago Negro, it’s well worth walking over to soak up the Gramado atmosphere and get to know the city even better.

Mini Mundo: Small Wonders
Mini Mundo is an open-air park that houses miniature replicas of famous constructions from around the world. Imagine seeing the Eiffel Tower, the Colosseum, and other icons in reduced scale, but with impressive details. It’s a delightful experience for all ages. The park is located on Avenida das Hortênsias, near the center of Gramado. Another tip close to Mini Mundo is Lago Joaquina Rita Bier, just a few minutes’ walk away. You can also catch the sunset and snap a spectacular family photo by the fountain to treasure forever.
Canela: The Charming Neighboring City
Be sure to also explore the neighboring city of Canela. There, you’ll find the Cascata do Caracol, a natural spectacle with a trail leading to the base of the waterfall. Additionally, visit the Prawer chocolate factory and sample their artisanal delights. Canela is just 7 km from Gramado and easily accessible by car or bus. We’ll talk much more about Canela in other posts, but still in this one, you can get to know the Catedral de Pedra in Canela, and take the opportunity to tour the cathedral’s bells. As of today, entry costs R$ 30.00 per person, but there’s also the possibility of half-price entry for students, seniors, and people with special needs. If you’re up for it, you can take the tour via the stairs and enjoy it even more, or use the elevator. Climbing the staircase, you’ll see up close the hand-laid brick walls that form the structure of the tower of the Parish of Nossa Senhora de Lourdes.

Gramado is known for its themed events. The Natal Luz is one of the most famous, transforming the city into a magical setting during the Christmas season. In winter, enjoy the cold weather to savor an authentic fondue. In spring and summer, explore the parks and gardens in full harmony. So, prepare an itinerary and adjust the number of days you’ll spend in the city to make the most of your stay.

To get a photo with just you on Rua Coberta, arrive early in the morning.

The Dreamland Wax Museum is a place where reality and fiction blend. Located on Avenida das Hortênsias, this wax museum features figures of celebrities, historical figures, and movie icons with incredible likeness to the originals. Here are some unusual encounters you might have:
